Friday 14th February - walk **** – Nacton Shores – sunny periods and cold.

The day started the usual grey, as Mag and I were meeting my sister at Dads bungalow to continue sorting out things at 11 I had just enough time to do my exercises while Mag packed a picnic lunch. By the time we reached Ipswich the sun was starting to make an appearance after several gloomy days but it’s still cold! We emptied a lot of the loft and filled our van with stuff mainly to go to charity shops, it is sad that a life time of stuff ends up in cardboard boxes and carrier bags destined for charity shops:( As we had to a do a fairly big shop from Lidl as we had a good voucher we decided to stop at Nacton Shores on the way back to Felixstowe for a walk and picnic. We park at the small car park furtherest from the River Orwell so we could walk through the woods with large clumps of snowdrops! The tide is high and for a change there were three sailing boats out enjoying the sunshine and a good breeze! We stopped at a seat set a little back from the river on the large green in front of the big house with loads of black sheep. The wind was a little chilly but it was nice to have some sun on your face again, we lunch over we walk along the Orwell towards Levington as the path goes up and down with lovely views across the water! Sadly my heel continues to play me up so 2/3 miles is our limit these days so at the end of the trees we turn and head back to the van as the tide starts to drop. We take the nice country lane back spotting a large herd of deer and a red kite, always a bonus! A spin round Lidl saving a tenner and home for a cuppa and cake, then with the sun setting I whizz down to the dock view in the cold to snap a few pics, good day, aways better with the sun out:)
